Julie Parsons Co-owner, RYT 500
Stacks Image 4
Julie Parsons, RYT 500 has been practicing yoga since 2000. She fell in love with all of the challenging aspects of Yoga. She found that learning how to breathe thoroughly (Pranayama), root into the mat, and have the courage to lift herself up became live changing lessons. Once she figured out the connection between those mat lessons and live lessons (Yamas and Niyamas), she was hooked. Not only was she excited to see the changes happening within herself, she was also excited to share her love of yoga with anyone willing to roll out their mat. Julie began her yoga training while living in California at The Yoga and Movement Center in Walnut Creek, Ca. She completed the 200 hr program at The Yoga and Movement Center in 2005 which included a 6 month apprenticeship with Diane Valentine and other Bay Area teachers. After teacher training she developed a passion for Restorative Yoga. She was amazed, and still is by the benefits of resting deeply. Julie has an additional 150 hours of training and assisting with Judith Hanson Lasater in Restorative yoga making her an Advanced Trainer in Relax and Renew Restorative Yoga.  As a Yoga teacher she has continued her studies in areas of yoga therapeutics with Judith Lasater, Leslie Kaminoff, Susi Hately Aldous, and Amy Weintraub. She has also attended Anusara teacher training with Ross Rayburn, certified in Pink Ribbon Recuperative Yoga with Amy Garrett and Julie Byrd, certified Reiki 2 master, and received her 500 RYT certification from Purple Lotus with Maggie Metzinger and Shannon Caldwell. She is tremendously grateful for all of the many teachers who have helped her along her yoga journey.

In 2006 Julie and her family moved to Haslet, TX. She loves spending time at home with her husband, 2 children, and 2 dogs. In 2009 Julie and Jana Holland became Co-Owners of Divine Center of Yoga in Southlake, TX. Divine Center of Yoga feels like a home away from home. The instructors and clients have all become a family that’s open to growth. She teaches HathaFusion on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Iyengar Inspired and Restorative Yoga on Fridays, and Vinyasa on Saturdays at Divine. Julie’s main motivation for all of her training is to offer a safe, supportive, and uplifting environment for all those who are willing to roll out their mats. Namaste.
Douglas Alberts, RYT
Stacks Image 5
The path that brought Douglas to Yoga began with those questions which everyone has about the need to understand their life and purpose. Reading Paramahansa Yogananda's “Autobiography of a Yogi” in the mid 80's led to ventures into the Bhagavad Gita. Questions of mind / body interactions led to a rare invitation to study biofeedback at Larry Dosey's clinic at Medical City Dallas. A later intensive biofeedback workshop at the Menninger Clinic, where he learned of the scientific demonstrations of Swami Rama, pointed to Yoga as an authentic path. While working in New York in 1990 he purchased a Yoga book on Asana and began the first tentative steps of study. Years passed until 2005 and that fateful Yoga class in which all students realize that there is
“something” in Yoga that they have to investigate. Yoga soon became a daily event and the need to deepen his understanding led to completion of a 200 hour RYT certification program in 2009. He has taken workshops with Eric Schiffman, David Romanelli, Dharma Mitra, Judith Lasater, Rod Stryker, Wade Morrissette and Leslie Kaminoff.

Douglas likes to call attention to an increasing body of medical and scientific literature supporting the health benefits of Yoga. At the same time though he likes to point out that Yoga is more than Asana and the benefits seem to stem from following the basics of the old traditional teachings.
Aimee Andrews, RYT

Aimee has been practicing yoga since 2007. She started her yoga journey in a local gym, taking one class per week to add variety to her cardio and weight training routine. As a gymnast and dancer in her younger years, flexibility and arm balancing came very naturally to her. After a couple of months, she was absolutely hooked and quickly became very passionate about the mind, body, spirit connection as well as the transformation in her body and in her life. She holds a Bachelors degree in Health Promotion and a Masters degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas which also seems to compliment the practice of yoga and currently works as an Elementary School Counselor. In 2011, Aimee completed her 200-hour RYT training with Shanon Buffington who studies under Rod Stryker, founder of ParaYoga. Being pregnant during her 200 hour training gave her a great opportunity to learn first hand about prenatal yoga, modifications, and most importantly the art of slowing down and accepting physical limitations. She gives enormous gratitude and appreciation for the influence of many teachers including Shanon Buffington, Rod Stryker, Doug Swensen, Dave Romanelli, Shiva Rea, Susi Hately Aldous, Wade Morissette, Bryan Kest, and local yogis Tara Munro Pedersen, DeAnna Anderson, Sloan Park, Stephanie Thompson, and our very own Jana Holland and Julie Parsons. Her style and philosophy of teaching is one that blends the influences of Vinyasa, Power, and Hatha focusing on providing an environment of acceptance, support, healing and peace of mind. Aimee's classes offer an alignment-focused yet powerful asana practice with pranayama and meditation. Aimee lives in Keller with her husband, two boys and three dogs

My very first yoga class was shortly after my first daughter was born (9 yrs ago), and went several times.  After a six year hiatus from my introduction, I went to a class at 24 hour fitness here in Southlake.  After several months of a consistent practice, I stumbled upon Divine.  I became a yoga addict.  My practice allows me to connect with my body in a way that nothing else has.  It encourages me to breathe and center.  My asana practice inspired me to learn more about the world of yoga.  After 2 1/2 years of a consistent practice, I took the next step for teacher training. I did the training for many reasons.  I wanted to learn more about this "lifestyle'", and wanted to be a me to offer others a way to connect with themselves and have more peace within their lives.  As a forty year old mother of two. Appreciating your body, having peace, and connecting with your authentic self is a challenging task.   The practice of yoga helps accomplish those things.

She was raised in a traditional Hindu family, where chanting, kirtan and meditation were part of her daily rituals.  Her first introduction to asana practice came from her Grandfather, her Guruji.  She started her asana practice under his guidance and it became her daily ritual. In 2008 she decided to take it a step further and did her 200 hour teacher training with Purple Lotus Yoga. Arpita is a certified yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance and has had the privilege of studying under very talented international teachers such as Rod Styker, Dharma Mittra, Judith Lasater, Lesli Kamainof, Doug Keller and Pandit Rajmani Tigunait.

For Arpita, yoga is not just a form of exercise but it’s a path towards a better life. She believes that yoga helps clear clutter of daily modern life and develops an awareness to get in touch with our inner selves. Arpita’s yoga classes are designed and based on this philosophy. She provides a fun-filled environment where each participant is encouraged and empowered to learn and grow. Her classes offer an alignment-focused asana practice combined with chanting, pranayama and meditation.

Arpita has earned a BS degree in Nutrition and an MBA from Texas Woman's University. She is currently pursuing her 500 hour yoga teacher training certification.

She loves to travel and has had the privilege of visit countries in Asia, Europe as well as North and South America. In her spare time she enjoys chanting, meditating, reading, cooking and spending time with her husband and their beloved dog Simba.

Finally, One famous sloka in Bhagavad-Gita says it all: "Yoga karmas kaushalam," which means "YOGA IS RELAXATION IN ACTION AND EFFICIENCY IN THE OUTCOME." So let’s focus on our work and not the results.
See you on the mat. Namaste!!!!!!!!!
